Reset Password

  1. Firstly, you'll need to download the QuickBooks Automated Password Reset Tool, a free utility that helps reset the QuickBooks Admin password for any Windows version of QuickBooks Desktop.

  2. Visit the Intuit Password Reset page, and from the dropdown menu, choose your QuickBooks version.

  3. Note: Ensure you select the version of QuickBooks that you last used to open the company file on your computer.

  4. Fill in the required details, including your QuickBooks License Number, First Name, Last Name, Email, Business Phone Number, and ZIP code. Hit 'Next' once you're done.

Note: When entering your phone number, ensure it is a ten-digit number without any extensions. There's no need to include (+1) at the start.

  1. A license agreement will appear on the screen. Accept it, and the QuickBooks Password Reset Tool will start downloading automatically. If it doesn't, then hit on the 'Download Now' button.

Note: If you are asked to Save or Run the file, opt for 'Save.'

  1. Locate the downloaded file and open the Password Reset Tool.

  2. Enter the Token number that was emailed to you.

  3. From the QuickBooks Desktop products dropdown, choose your QuickBooks version.

  4. Click 'Browse for Company File' and select your company file. Make sure to enter the correct Admin username of the company file.

  5. Now, enter your new QuickBooks Admin Password and confirm it. Both entries must match.

Note: Use a temporary password at this step, as QuickBooks will request you to update it again while opening the company file.

  1. Finally, hit the 'Reset Password' button to complete the process.

With this, you can regain access to your company file using your new password. Please note that the QuickBooks Desktop Password Reset Tool can be used only once per verification email. For a new token, you'll need to request a new verification email.
